Today lettuce in the ‘big box’ supermarket may have been shipped all the way from Turkey, while the apples may have come from China. Shipping these distances greatly reduces freshness and consumes a lot more fuel. We conduct our business differently. We buy our ingredients directly from organic family farms that are often less than 50 miles from our kitchen. These farmers produce healthier food and love the land as much as we love what they grow.
Meet Mariquita FarmMariquita Farm is a small family farm located near Watsonville, California.
They grow organic specialty vegetables, greens, strawberries and herbs
for Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members in Santa Cruz
County, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco and for the San Francisco
Farmers Market customers at the Ferry Plaza Farmers' Market.
